Frequently Asked Questions
Who are Brothers CIC?
Brothers CIC is a not-for-profit organisation that runs projects in our region to support physical, emotion and social development. Busy Dads Club is one of those projects. Details of other groups and projects including work in schools and colleges is available at the Brother CIC Facebook page
Is it free to take part?
As far as possible, we run our sessions for free or at a heavily discounted cost. We receive some funding and organise fundraising events throughout the year to try and ensure that money does not prevent you from attending. We want every dad to feel able to join in without cost being a barrier.
Do I need to bring any equipment?
No – apart from your own training kit. We can provide everything you need for each activity, but do feel free to bring your own if you have it. Just turn up in comfortable clothing and we’ll take care of the rest.
I’m not very good — does it matter?
If your sole aim is to win at all cost, then this probably is not the right group for you.
Our sessions are designed for all abilities, from complete beginners to those with more experience. The focus is on connection, enjoyment and support, not performance. The sports and activities are a gateway to opening up conversations and support for more meaningful things.
Can my kids come along?
Some sessions are dad‑only to give you space to focus on yourself, while others are family‑friendly. Check the session details or ask a facilitator and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Do I need to book in advance?
Usually not. Most sessions are drop‑in, but a few may have limited spaces. We’ll always make it clear if booking is required.
What if I feel nervous about joining?
That’s completely normal. Our facilitators will welcome you, introduce you to others and help you settle in. You can take things at your own pace.
What if I need extra support?
You can always speak with a facilitator during or after a session. If needed, we can help you connect with wider services or arrange 1‑to‑1 support through our pathway.
Can I just come along and watch?
Yes. You can opt to come and gather on The Subs Bench — a chilled space to chat, share what’s going on in life, and support one another with anything physical, mental or emotional. It’s a chance to slow down, connect and enjoy the kind of conversations that only happen when people feel comfortable and included.
Come along, get involved, and be part of a community built on fun, friendship and genuine support.
